Oneself
A woman lived in a small house in a small town. She had a beloved husband and cuddly children, and sweet cats, and a ferocious dog. The woman was truly happy.
One morning, looking out the window of her life, she realized that she had not met herself face to face before. In an instant she longed to run away somewhere far away. The face became a treasure for her.
She began to search for her face. She dreamt of finally looking into her own eyes. However, all efforts came to nothing. The face was always hidden. She was surprised to discover that she sometimes covered it herself. She did not understand herself. Sometimes she looked for the reflection of her face in the objects around her. But everything was indistinct, blurred, alien.
There was only one moment when she had the impression that she had met herself. The face was upside down.
The series of photographs ‘Oneself’ was created during the workshop with Erik Kessels ‘Fabulous failer’ organised by the Sputnik Photos collective (2019).
